Community Engagement

Community Engagement

We believe that lasting change for girls cannot be achieved by working with girls alone. Harmful practices such as female genital mutilation (FGM), child marriage, teenage pregnancy, and school dropout are deeply rooted in social norms, cultural beliefs, and community structures.

Through our Community Engagement Program, we work alongside parents, elders, religious and traditional leaders, teachers, government officials, men, women, boys, and youth to transform these norms. By facilitating respectful dialogue and fostering community ownership, we strengthen local commitment to protecting girls’ rights, promoting education, and creating safe, supportive environments where every girl has the opportunity to thrive

In-School Engagement

We partner with schools to create safe, and gender-responsive learning environments. Through teacher training on gender-responsive pedagogy, sessions on (SRHR), and the establishment of Student's (SWAT) Clubs, we empower learners and educators to prevent violence, promote equality, and support girls to remain in school.

Community Dialogues

We facilitate inclusive dialogues that bring together parents, girls, boys, elders, religious leaders, and other community gatekeepers to challenge harmful social norms. Through these forums, communities openly discuss FGM, child marriage, adolescent health, education, and positive parenting, fostering collective ownership of lasting social change.

Stakeholders Collaboration

We convene government agencies, local administration, child protection actors, schools, health providers, probation officers, and civil society organizations to strengthen coordinated responses for girls. By building such partnerships, stakeholders jointly identify risks, respond to protection concerns, and develop sustainable community-led solutions that safeguard girls' rights and wellbeing.

Football For Change

Every year during the 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence, we organize community football tournaments that engage men and boys as champions for gender equality. The tournaments provide an interactive platform to discuss gender-based violence, promote positive masculinity, and encourage communities to take collective action to protect women and girls.
